Vernon school seeks support for Holiday Hamper program
A Vernon school is looking for support from local businesses for a holiday season campaign to help vulnerable students and their families.
W.L. Seaton Secondary is presenting its Holiday Hamper which was able to help about 40 students last year, with a goal to meet or beat that this year.
“We serve over 1,000 students, many of whom come from socio-economically disadvantaged families, so we try to fill some of those inequities by providing vulnerable students and families with access to grocery store gift cards and gifts for the holidays,” Tannis Porter, school based resource teacher, told Vernon Matters.
Porter said they’re reaching out to Vernon businesses to see if they are interested in making a donation.
