Remembrance Day services around North Okanagan

People can honour veterans and first responders at Remembrance Day services around the North Okanagan on Nov. 11.

Vernon’s ceremony will be held at Kal Tire Place, hosted by the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 25 (Vernon) in partnership with the City of Vernon.

The program schedule is as follows:

9:30 a.m. Doors open
9:50 a.m. Musical prelude
10:00 a.m. Parade forms
10:25 a.m. Parade of veterans, first responders, cadets,
cubs and scouts
10:35 a.m. Service begins
11:00 a.m. One minute of silence

The local Army and Navy Airforce Veterans, and the Elks Lodge, will hold a separate service around the same time at the Vernon Cenotaph.

In the District of Coldstream, Remembrance Day services will be held at the Coldstream Cenotaph and the Lavington Cenotaph, both starting at 10:45 a.m.

Each service will be followed by refreshments at the Coldstream and Lavington fire halls.

Residents of Enderby, Armstrong and Lumby can also attend services in their communities.
