A sizzling week on the ice has led to a Vernon Vipers forward getting accolades from the BC Hockey League.

Owen Kim was named the league’s first star of the week on Oct. 31 after posting nine points (2 goals-7 assists) in four games last week, the highest-scoring week of any BCHL player this season.

The third-year veteran from North Vancouver had a goal and 2 assists in an 8-1 win over the Coquitlam Express Monday at the BCHL Showcase in Seattle, and added one goal in a 7-3 loss to the Surrey Eagles the next night.

Kim notched two assists in Fridays 5-3 road loss to the Penticton Vees, then finished his week with a three-assist afternoon in a 4-1 win over the Merritt Centennials on Sunday.

Kim has 19 points in 13 games to sit fourth in league scoring. His 15 assists are third most in the BCHL.

Alberni Valley Bulldogs goaltender Callum Tung was the league’s second star of the week while Surrey Eagles forward Caden Cranston was the third star in the program sponsored by NAPA Auto Parts.
