Small fire in downtown office building

Vernon fire crews were on the scene of a small fire in an office building in the city’s downtown core Thursday morning.

Fire Rescue Services said it was the result of a small kitchen fire in a microwave around 9:15 a.m. in the 3300 block of 32nd Avenue, across from Beach Radio.

There were no injuries and minor damage was reported.

Some of the occupants were evacuated as a precaution.

There are a number of businesses, professional offices and an Interior Health clinic in that building. It’s not known what part of the building the fire was in.
