Vipers add two players, trade veteran

Oct 23, 2023 | 10:45 AM

The Vernon Vipers have traded one 20-year-old player and added another.

Defenceman Noah Dorey is one of the new Vipers, a 20-year-old Surrey product who played the last few seasons with the WHL’s Kelowna Rockets.

The 6’3, 192 lb. blueliner had 8 points in 33 games last year.

“Noah is a defenceman that will be able to come in and play in all situations for us,” Vipers head coach and GM Jason McKee said. “He has size and moves extremely well. Noah is expected to make an immediate impact on our lineup in a lot of different ways.”

Meantime, the Vipers have traded 20-year-old forward Luke Buss to the Nanaimo Clippers in exchange for 19-year-old forward Luke Bibby.

“It’s tough to trade a kid as good a person as Luke Buss is,” McKee told vernonvipers.com. “We had to make room at the 20 year old spots on our roster and we feel we have acquired a solid younger player in return that will compliment our forward group.”

Bibby from Brantford, Ontario, had three goals and one assist this season with the Clippers.

The Vipers (7-2) start play Monday night (Oct. 23) at the BCHL Showcase in Seattle, taking on the Coquitlam Express (4-4–0-1) at 7 p.m. and then the unbeaten Surrey Eagles (8-0) Tuesday night at 7:50 p.m.

Graham Turnbull will have the call of both games on Abby Dental Vipers hockey on 107.5 Beach Radio and Vernon Matters.
