An updated plan for a tiered pricing and access system for recreation services in Vernon goes before city council for approval on Monday, Oct 23.
A staff report to Vernon council outlined the details of the tiered pricing system that received council’s preliminary endorsement in September.
The report proposes:
- A 50 per cent discount for all posted recreation and rental rates for Vernon residents
- A 25 per cent discount for recreation registered programs for Vernon residents
- Providing Vernon residents access to register for programs two weeks before non-residents
- Providing municipalities and electoral areas with an option to enter into a fee for service agreement that would entitle their citizens to receive the same benefits as Vernon residents
- Allowing non-residents to receive the same benefits as Vernon residents by:
- Purchasing a Vernon Resident Pass access card for $800 per year, which would allow all family members within the specified households to receive the early access and discounts
- Purchase an organized sport pass for $375 per person, per year
