Fatal travel trailer fire

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP have confirmed the death of two people in a travel trailer fire on Westside Road last month.

The trailer was engulfed in flames when crews arrived to the 12100 block of the road around 3:40 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23.

The bodies were found by the BC Coroner’s Service after the fire was extinguished by the Okanagan Indian Band Fire Department.

“The cause of the fire remains undetermined, however, based on findings from the preliminary investigation, no criminality is suspected and the BC Coroners Service has undertaken their own concurrent investigation,” Const. Chris Terleski told Vernon Matters.

Terleski said details related to the victims are not being released, pending positive identification.
