Butcher Boys has set a lofty goal for its annual fundraiser for the North Okanagan Hospice Society.

The family-run grocery store hopes to raise $28,000 after reaching nearly $21,000 in 2022.

“Each year, we do this fundraiser in honour of the Butcher Boys family that hospice has taken such great care of — Chris Huculak, Judy Mallet and our founder, Irma Guidi, to name a few. Both thankfully, and sadly, our local Hospice House has touched so many of our lives, and is such an important organization in our community,” Tamsen Guidi of Butcher Boys said.

The ten week fundraiser kicked off on Saturday with a barbeque and live music attended by hundreds.

Over the next ten weeks, grocery shoppers can make a five dollar donation and for a chance to win one of ten $200 meat packs.

There are also plans to have a gift basket draw weekend with a collection of items and gift cards from local vendors to be combined, displayed, and raffled-off over the course of the October 13-15 weekend.

“We are going to wrap up the fundraiser with a “Plinko” day on November 4 starting at 9 a.m. until prizes run out,” Guidi explained “Faster paced and full of chance, every $20 donation gives our customers the chance to drop the Plinko Puck, and collect a prize.”

The fall is a busy time for NOHS fundraising with some proceeds from Bourbon Street Bar Grill “Savour the Okanagan” last Saturday evening going to NOHS.

The “From Hospice with Love” Gala at the Prestige Vernon Lodge is this coming Saturday (September 23), with limited tickets still available along with an online 50/50 that is close to $3,000.
