Four Tim Hortons in Vernon sold

After more than two decades under the same ownership, several of the Tim Hortons in Vernon have been sold.

Dan Currie, who has owned the restaurants as a franchisee for 27 years, has sold the Tims on 27th Street, on 25th Avenue in Okanagan Landing, the one on 58th Avenue near WalMart and the outlet at the Esso on 34th Street.

Currie said a family from Kelowna bought the four businesses.

Currie is holding on to the Tims on Highway 6 and the one in Lumby which his family members will continue to run.

Currie, himself, is retiring.

“It’s time to enjoy the grandkids and to slow down and retire,” Currie told Vernon Matters.

Currie had earlier plans to open a new drive-thru Tims on Highway 97 (32nd Street) at 39th Avenue beside the city’s original store which shut down in 2020, but the new one never proceeded.

It will be up the new owner and the company to decide the fate of that proposal.
