Jul 28, 2023 | 12:20 PM

Kal Tire Place will abound with sound and pageantry this weekend as the tenth annual Okanagan Military Tattoo presents two shows, Saturday at 7:00 p.m. and Sunday at 2:00 p.m.

The monumental undertaking is Vernon’s largest annual indoor event with up to 400 performers and requiring 125 volunteers. This year’s program will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the founding of the RCMP and our annual “tribute to the veterans” will commemorate the 80th anniversary of Operation Husky, the invasion of Sicily and the start of the Italian Campaign.Featured entertainers in the two hour show are: The regimental band of the 15 th Field Artillery from Vancouver, the Naden Band of the Royal Canadian Navy, the RCMP “E” Division Pipe Band, Pipers & Drummers from The City of New Westminster Pipe Band, the Canadian Scottish Regiment, the Seaforth Highlanders, the Queen’s Own Cameron Highlanders as well as contingents from the local regional pipe bands including Kelowna, Shuswap, Kamloops and Vernon. City Dance and the Okanagan Military Tattoo Dancers will put on an amazing show. The Vernon Cadet Camp is providing a Colour Party as well as a precision drill team.

Tickets can be purchased at the Ticket Seller box office, by phone, on line or in person or via the Okanagan Tattoo website. Special pricing is available to seniors, veterans, first responders (search & rescue, fire dept, BC Ambulance) RCMP and all health care workers. The “kids are free” program allows one free youth (18 and under) to attend the show with the purchase of an adult or senior ticket.
