Head of lake plan moves ahead

Jul 12, 2023 | 5:00 AM

Coldstream council has got the ball rolling on the district’s head of the lake plan.

The project will develop a master plan for Kal Beach and the non-residential lands surrounding the beach between the Kalavista boat launch and Pumphouse Beach.

At its meeting July 10, council approved an amended table of contents for the project, which identifies the topics to be included in the committee’s work plan.

That will include uses on the beach and in the lake, landscaping, parking, a traffic study along with strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and challenges.

Council also approved a stakeholder engagement strategy to gather input and ideas from the community.

“The district will be issuing an open call for formal written submissions that include recommendations on improvements to Kalamalka Beach and the Head of the Lake neighbourhood, to be submitted prior to September 15, 2023,” a news release from the district stated.

A media release with more information will be issued in the coming days.

Council also agreed to hold at least two open houses on the Head of the Lake Plan, one pre-design and one post design for the public’s review.

More information will be released as the plan unfolds.
