UPDATE: The Pigeon Creek wildfire has spread

UPDATE: 3:20 p.m. June 5:

More firefighters have been dispatched to manage the Pigeon Creek wildfire west of Peachland.

The B.C. Wildfire Service has confirmed that 44 members are on the ground actioning the fire. They have one water tender on the scene to assist with operations.

The BCWS also has six water skimmers and two air tankers with retardants assisting with fire suppression from the air.

At last update the fire remained estimated at eight hectares and classified as out of control, with no known cause.

DriveBC is not reporting any impacts to traffic on Highway 97C due to the fire.

UPDATE 1:30 p.m. June 5:

The Pigeon Creek wildfire has grown even more.

As of 1:27 p.m. Monday, the fire was estimated to be eight hectares in size and still classified as out of control.

B.C. Wildfire Service crews and machinery, including skimmers and air tankers, continue to action the fire, the cause of which remains unknown.

DriveBC has not reported any traffic impacts to Highway 97C caused by the fire.

UPDATE 11:45 a.m. June 5: —

The wildfire off Highway 97C has grown.

The B.C. Wildfire Service said, as of 11:33 a.m. Monday, June 5, the Pigeon Creek wildfire had grown to five hectares in size.

Six skimmer bombers and two retardant air tankers have been dispatched to assist the two attack crews on the ground.

The blaze was still considered out of control.

A small wildfire is reportedly out of control just off Highway 97C.

The B.C. Wildfire Service said the spot sized fire was discovered west of the Trepanier Road turnoff, approximately 20 kilometres from West Kelowna and 6.5 kilometres from Peachland, at 7:06 p.m. Sunday, June 4.

As of 9:30 a.m. Monday, June 5, the Pigeon Creek wildfire was estimated to be one hectare in size.

Eight B.C. Wildfire Service have been tasked with battling the blaze, and a helicopter and tankers have been made available to support suppression efforts as needed.

No structures are at risk as of 9:30 a.m. and no traffic disruptions were reported on DriveBC.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, and is out of control.
