Woman on life support after Kamloops shooting

A woman in her 30s is on life support following a shooting on the North Shore of Kamloops over the weekend.

In a news release, Kamloops RCMP say they and paramedics were called to the 800-block of Valhalla Drive shortly after 6:00 p.m. Sunday (May 21). The victim was sent to hospital with life-threatening injuries.

A police presence remains on Valhalla Drive while investigators search the neighbourhood for witnesses and security footage, and work to execute a search warrant on a home.

“At this time, the incident is believed to be isolated, and the parties involved known to each other,” Sgt. Nestor Baird says. “Police have been in contact with the victim’s family and are requesting their privacy be respected.”

To protect the integrity of the investigation, RCMP say no further information will be released at this time.

Residents in the area are asked to check their security and dash cameras to see if they captured anything that may be helpful to the investigation.
