just a test

Siren will be tested today at Predator Ridge

Apr 27, 2023 | 11:15 AM

A testing of the emergency siren in the Predator Ridge area will take place today (April 27).

The siren, which is being installed in the area for use during emergency situations, will be tested between 1 and 3 o’clock Thursday afternoon.

The test is expected to last approximately three minutes.

Members of the public are advised that the siren is only being tested at this time, and hearing the wailing sound with a cycle of high and low pitch tones will not require people take any action.

The emergency siren is a project spearheaded by the Predator Ridge Community Safety group who requested support from Vernon city council to have the siren installed at Fire Station 3 in Predator Ridge. The siren is intended to be only be used for wildfire evacuations.
