Vipers rally to stun Silverbacks in series opener

The Vernon Vipers played comeback kids as they rallied from a 3-0 deficit to beat the Salmon Arm Silverbacks 4-3 in overtime to open their second round B.C. Hockey League series on Friday night.

The Vipers scored three goals in the third period including one from Isaac Tremblay with 45 seconds left to tie it, and then Tremblay, a Granby, Quebec native, scored at 4:17 of OT to win it before a sold out crowd of 1,823 at the Shaw Centre in Salmon Arm.

Anthony Cliche and Walker Erickson added singles for the Vipers who won their fourth straight playoff game.

Ethan David made 28 saves for the win in net.

Nathan Mackie led the way for Salmon Arm with a goal and two assists.

Game 2 is tonight at 7 p.m. in Salmon Arm before the series comes to Vernon for games 3 and 4 Tuesday and Wednesday.
