Vernon’s Canadian Tire resumes online sales after fire

Customers will be able to shop for items from Vernon’s Canadian Tire store again next week — but not in person.

The store has been closed since a suspicious overnight fire on Nov. 19, 2022 in the outside garden centre area which also caused major smoke and water damage inside the business in the Village Green Shopping Centre.

While the store itself is not ready to reopen, customers will be able to shop online starting Monday, Jan. 23 using either the ship to home or curbside pickup services.

“While inventory in some departments may be limited, we will continue to add items daily,” Harriet Renshaw, manager of brand communications for Canadian Tire told Vernon Matters.

The store’s auto service centre has been open since early December.

“We are working hard to re-open in-store shopping as soon as possible to serve the community of Vernon,” Renshaw added.

Vernon RCMP recently told Vernon Matters, they were still investigating the fire, which they believe was deliberately set.
