Vees knock off Vipers in New Year’s Day tilt

The Penticton Vees improved their B.C. Hockey League-leading record to 29 wins and just two losses after a 6-3 win over the Vernon Vipers in a New Year’s Day contest at Kal Tire Place.

Aydar Suniev, a hometown product with the Vees, was named the game’s first star with a goal and one assist as the Vees got their 16th straight win against teams in the Interior Division, including three wins over the Vipers.

Woodbridge, Ontario native Julian Facchinelli led the Vipers with his 7th goal of the season and one assist.

A crowd of 2,103 took in the Sunday afternoon game in Vernon.
