Fireworks to light up skies around North Okanagan

Oct 31, 2022 | 5:00 AM

There should be plenty of eye candy for people to enjoy around the North Okanagan on Halloween night.

Fireworks will be held in a number of communities tonight, some making a return for the first time since the pandemic.

In Coldstream, the event will be at Kal Beach on Kalamalka Road with a bonfire and hot chocolate at 7:45 p.m. and fireworks at 8:15 p.m. (new times).

Lavington will have fireworks at the community park across from the fire hall.

The concession and bonfire will start at 6:30 pm, serving hot dogs, burgers, chili and hot chocolate.

Fireworks will blast off at 8 p.m.

The BX-Silver Star Fire Department will light up the sky at the park behind the fire hall on Silver Star Road.

Fire chief Bill Wacey said a concession and bonfire will begin at 7 p.m. with the fireworks at 8 p.m.

The City of Vernon does not have a fireworks display for Halloween.

Armstrong welcomes residents to its celebration, with a bonfire at 7:15 p.m., hot chocolate and hotdogs at 7:30 and fireworks at 7:45.

Enderby’s activities will include the Lions Club serving hot dogs and hot chocolate from the Riverside Park gazebo from 5 to 8 p.m. with fireworks to follow after dusk.

The Village of Lumby has hired Big Bang Fireworks, a company that has been doing the display for the last few years with the assistance of the fire department.

This year it will be just the Big Bang staff and there will be music set to the fireworks as well. Fireworks will go off behind J.W. Inglis School starting at 8 p.m.

The village says, to hear the music, you may have to be closer to J.W. Inglis.
