City project may create noise

The City of Vernon will be conducting sanitary sewer main flushing on part of Kalamalka Road in Coldstream next week that will require early morning work.

The project is expected to begin Monday, Oct. 31 and continue until Friday, Nov. 4 with the work taking place  from 3:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. each day near the new Coldstream Station and Lakeway Mobile Home Park (15400 block).

“While flushing is taking place, residents and businesses in the surrounding area may hear some noise,” a news release from the District of Coldstream stated. “Every effort will be made to minimize disruptions, however, the city has recommended that area residents keep their windows closed overnight, if possible.”

City of Vernon communications said part of the project includes CCTV inspection of the infrastructure, which means the work needs to be done when there is less flow moving through the sewer system.
