The Vernon Vipers start the new BC Hockey League season in Salmon Arm tonight against the Silverbacks. The two teams will meet at Kal Tire Place at 6 p.m. Saturday.

107.5 Beach Radio, and online with Vernon Matters, will have all the Vipers games this season with Graham Turnbull starting his 10th year in the broadcast booth.

Friday’s pre-game show with Graham will start at 6:45 p.m.

Former NHL’er Jason Padollan is expected to provide colour commentary on tonight’s broadcast.

The Vipers have named Ayden Third, Griffen Barr and Luke Pakulak as their alternate captains to start the new season, with no captain at this point.

“We’re just going to go with the group to start,” said head coach and general manager Jason McKee. “Just having conversations with our staff and the players as well, it’s a lot for one person.”

All three players are are returning for their third year with the team.

“There’s a lot of character in that room. We’re very comfortable with the guys wearing letters and we will go month to month here, and I’m not saying a captain won’t be named eventually, but for right now, this is the way we want to start,” McKee added.
