The B.C. Wildfire Service is reporting several new wildfires in the Okanagan and Shuswap areas.

That includes two new fires south of Kelowna, one near Lebanon Creek and another near Liddell Creek east of Summerland, with both those fires listed at 0.01 hectares.

Another fire earlier posted on the BCWS’s dashboard northwest of Chute Lake, is no longer listed.

There is also a new fire in the Larch Hills area east of Salmon Arm which is spot sized, and one west of Chase near Niskonlith Creek.

Some of the new fires are believed to be caused by lightning, but others have unknown causes.

There are 22 active fires in the Kamloops Fire Centre as of 12:45 p.m. today, with 62 in B.C.

The Keremeos Creek fire southwest of Penticton saw growth on Thursday and a size update from the 4,250 hectares is expected soon.
