Fuel shortage affecting Vernon stations

Aug 3, 2022 | 10:51 AM

Two Vernon stations were having to turn customers away this morning, Aug. 3, due to a fuel shortage.

The Petro-Canada on 25th Avenue and the Esso on 34th Street both confirmed with Vernon Matters that, as 10:30 a.m., they did not have gasoline on site.

The Petro-Can did have diesel available, and the Esso is expecting a fuel delivery sometime Wednesday, though a specific time could not be provided,

The Husky on 32th Street told Vernon Matters it ran out of fuel on Tuesday, but received a shipment later that night and is once again fully operational.

None of the stations could comment on what was causing the shortage.

All other stations in Vernon reported that they had all grades of fuel available.

Vernon Matters has reached out to fuel suppliers Suncor and Global Fuels for comment on the shortages, but had not heard back as of time of publication.
