The rain the past couple of days has caused some localized flooding incidents around the North Okanagan.

That includes in the Lumby area, where the creek has gone over its banks, over the road, and is impacting properties on Whitevale Road.

Drive BC says Whitevale Road is closed 1 kilometre north of Lumby until further notice.

The Village of Lumby announced today it has activated its Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to Level 1 for the purposes of preparation, response, and public communications related to localized flooding.

“The EOC is monitoring flood conditions and encourages residents who may live in flood-prone areas to take measures to protect their property,” a notice from the village stated.

Enderby activated its emergency operations centre on Monday, also to Level 1 due to rising levels on the Shuswap River.

Environment Canada’s official weather station for Vernon at the Coldstream Ranch received 20.3 millimetres of rain on Monday, plus more overnight, but at this point, the rain seems to have stopped.
