Fuel spill in Vernon parking lot

Fire and city crews worked to contain a fuel spill in a Vernon parking lot this morning. (May 24).

The City of Vernon said at around 6:50 a.m., Vernon Fire Rescue Services was dispatched to a report of a fuel spill in a parking area in the 2600-block of Highway 6.

“Upon arrival, firefighters confirmed the fuel tank of a personal vehicle broke and leaked approximately 80 litres of fuel. Crews worked together to contain the spill with the use of a vacuum truck and absorbent materials,” a city news release stated.

No injuries were reported in the incident and there was no impact to traffic.
