Dog pilot projects come to an end in parks

Apr 8, 2022 | 9:40 AM

Off-season, dog access pilot projects have ended in two regional parks in the District of Lake Country.

Regular rules prohibiting dogs are back in effect in Kaloya and Kopje regional parks.

The pilot projects temporarily allowed dogs off-leash in Kopje Regional Park and on-leash on trails within Kaloya Regional Park during the slower winter months from October 1 through March 31. During that time, dogs were not allowed on the beach area of either park.

RDCO Parks Services staff will now review the projects and consider possible future options.

All dogs in the Central Okanagan must be licensed, and responsible dog owners ensure they always have control of their dog, even if by voice command when in a designated off-leash area. Any issues about dog behavior should be reported to RDCO Dog Control – 250-469-6284.
