Police seeking information after man’s body found in North Thompson River
Police say a body spotted in the North Thompson River near Kamloops Tuesday (Mar. 29) has now been identified as a man, and an investigation into the circumstances of his death is ongoing.
RCMP were called to an area in the 4300-block of Weststyde Road around 12:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon for a report of what appeared to be a body floating in the river.
Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet with RCMP’s E Division says more resources were called in, and around 4 p.m, the deceased person was pulled from the river.
“An RCMP dive team member was deployed to assist in the investigation and went to recovery that person’s body, who at that time had not been identified as a man but has since been identified as a deceased man,” states Shoihet.
