Vernon area sees little change in COVID-19 vaccination rates

The BCCDC stats shows that Kettle Valley had the lowest first dose vaccination rates in the Interior for the five to 11 age group (23 per cent), the 12 to 17 age group (49 per cent), and the 50 and over group (78 per cent). Enderby had the lowest rate for the 18 to 49 age group (66 per cent).

Okanagan Mission and Kamloops Centre South had the Interior’s highest first dose vaccination rates for the five to 11 age group (60 per cent). Kamloops Centre South also had the highest rates for all other age groups, recording first dose rates of 91 per cent for the 12 to 17 group, 99 per cent for the 18 to 49 age group, and 95 per cent in the 50 and over category.

The BCDC data also shows that Kamloops Centre South had the highest third dose rate for area residents aged 70 and over at 85 per cent, while Kettle Valley had the lowest rate at 64 per cent.

As of Monday, Feb. 21, Vernon/Coldstream’s vaccination rates for residents aged five and over were 85 per cent for first doses and 80 per cent for second jabs. Additionally, 88 per cent of area adults have received one jab and 85 per cent have been double-dosed.

The BCCDC data shows that as of Monday 85 per cent of Interior residents aged five and over have received a first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, while 80 per cent had received two jabs and 47 per cent had received a booster.

The provincial rates for British Columbians aged five and older were 90 per cent for first doses, 86 per cent for two jabs and 51 per cent for booster shots.
