Vipers edge Smokies for seventh straight win

The Vernon Vipers continued their second half surge in the BCHL, winning their seventh straight game, 3-2 over the Trail Smoke Eaters Wednesday night.

Vipers goalie Roan Clarke was the first star making 49 saves at the Cominco Arena.

Vernon built up a 3-1 lead on goals from Luke Buss, Reagan Milburn and JoJo Tanaka-Campbell with Trail pulling to within one with a goal in the final minute.

Two of the Vipers’ goals came on the power play as the team improved to 14-14-3-3 and moved past the Smoke Eaters into 6th place in the Interior Division.

Next up for the Vipers will be two games in Cranbrook Friday and Saturday against the Bucks, as they near the end of their string of seven straight road games.
