RDCO receives grant for wastewater treatment plant
A grant has been awarded to the Regional District of Central Okanagan to assist with long-term planning for its Westside Regional Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The Government of Canada and Federation of Canadian Municipalities are providing a $50,000 contribution through the Municipal Asset Management Program. This will be used to complete a comprehensive Asset Management Plan for the facility in West Kelowna.
“This funding is fantastic news for the communities served by our regional facility. It’s crucial to proactively plan and understand the life-cycle replacement requirements for such a complex facility that serves Westside communities and to protect the environment,” said RDCO Board Chair Loyal Wooldridge.
“This plan will help identify the life expectancy of various components of the plant so that we can prudently budget funds that will be needed over the long term to ensure continued reliable service for residents and businesses. We are grateful to FCM for this important grant to better serve residents.”
