Official byelection results confirm Durning’s victory

The City of Vernon has released the official results of the Dec. 8 city council byelection, which confirm that Teresa Durning has won the seat on council.

The results show that nearly all the figures reported Saturday following the election were correct, with the exception for the number of votes for Stephanie Hendy, who was under-reported by one vote.

With the results now finalized, councillor-elect Durning will be sworn into office at a Special Meeting of Council on Tuesday, Dec. 14 at 10 a.m.

The meeting will be open to the public, but space within the council chambers will be limited in accordance to the city’s COVID safety plan.

The event will also be live streamed on the city’s website.
