Vipers end six game losing slide with win over Warriors

Dec 2, 2021 | 4:30 AM

The Vernon Vipers busted out of their slump in a big way, dumping the West Kelowna Warriors 5-1 Wednesday night at Kal Tire Place.

Ryan Shostak was named first star with a goal and two assists as Vernon snapped a six-game losing streak. Luke Buss and Reagan Milburn added a goal and one helper each.

Roan Clarke made 31 saves for the win in net before a crowd of 1,079 on the first night since capacity limits were lifted by Interior Health.

Two players acquired in trades by Vernon this week were in the lineup: Talon Zakall and Max Borovinskiy, with both held off the scoresheet.

The Vipers next play Friday when they host the Trail Smoke Eaters at 7:00 p.m. You can listen to the game on Beach Radio/Vernon Matters starting with Graham Turnbull at 6:45 p.m.

In the KIJHL Wednesday, the Osoyoos Coyotes blanked the North Okanagan Knights 7-0 at the Sun Bowl Arena in the South Okanagan. The Knights will host the Coyotes Dec. 7 at the Nor-Val Centre in Armstrong.
