Semi hauling hay overturns on highway

Two people were taken for treatment after a semi rollover in Spallumceen that involved two other vehicles.

RCMP responded to the 2600 block of Highway 97 around noon on Wednesday (Oct. 27).

A tractor trailer pulling dual flat deck trailers and transporting large hay bales failed to negotiate a sharp curve southbound on the highway at Salmon River Road.

“The tractor trailer overturned, sideswiping a northbound semi-truck and Toyota pick-up truck. The drivers of the overturned tractor trailer and pickup truck were transported from the scene by B.C. Ambulance Service for treatment of non-life threatening injuries,” said Constable Chris Terleski, media relations officer for Vernon North Okanagan RCMP.

Terleski said traffic control measures were put in place to allow crews to safely recover the vehicle and remove debris from the roadway.
