UPDATE: Bail hearing delayed for murder suspect

A man accused in the shooting death of another man in Spallumcheen earlier this month has had his bail hearing delayed.

Jevon Smith, 46, is accused of second degree murder in the death of Dakota Samoleski on Sept. 20, 2021 on Back Enderby Road.

Smith’s bail hearing that was scheduled for today, was put over to Oct. 4 at 9:30 a.m. in Vernon provincial court.

Court documents reveal murder victim’s name

Police have yet to release the name of a North Okanagan murder victim, but court documents have.

Global News is reporting the male victim of a shooting in Spallumcheen on Sept. 20 was Dakota Samoleski, which is according to court documents.

No details about what may have led to the incident have been released although police believe the victim and suspect knew each other.

Jevon Smith of Spallumcheen, 46, is facing a second degree murder charge in the case, with a bail hearing scheduled for Monday in Vernon court.

Smith was arrested near Armstrong later that day after a police pursuit from the air and ground. He has been before the courts before.

The victim’s body was found in the 4500 block of Back Enderby Road.
