Proof of vaccination needed to attend Vernon Vipers games

Kal Tire Place will be opening for training camp, exhibition and regular season games, though fans will be required to provide proof of vaccination in order to cheer on the Vernon Vipers from the stands.

The Vipers will require anyone age 18 or over to provide their proof of full vaccination along with a photo ID before entering the arena. Kids age 12 to 17, will be required to show their vaccine passports but no ID, in order to attend as well.

The Vipers say in a release that no exceptions will be granted.

Full vaccination will be required in order to attend all games during the 2021-22 season, which begins on Tuesday, Sept. 21 with an exhibition game against the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

The team says the decision comes in support of the provincial COVID-19 proof of vaccination program, which will require all guests, employees and event staff to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination prior to entry.

The Vipers also notes that Kal Tire Place will only allow 50 per cent capacity.

A number of other rules must be maintained during training camp and exhibition games.

  • No standing room will be available and there will be no standing by the rails
  • Fans must sit in their assigned seat and can only leave to visit the washroom or concession
  • A mask must be worn at all times in the arena, though masks may be lowered in order to eat or drink
  • There will be zero tolerance for any verbal or physical abuse to staff, and patrons who violate this rule will be escorted out of the arena

Training camp begins this weekend, with the Red and Gold Teams practicing on Friday, followed by intra-squad games on Saturday and Sunday.

Exhibition games begin on Tuesday, Sept. 21 with a game against Salmon Arm at 7 p.m.

People attending practices and games are advised to immediatly go to their seats once admitted to Kal Tire Place and to not wander around the arena.

Team Red Practice 1:00-2:30pm on Friday September 17
Team Gold Practice 3:00-4:30pm on Friday September 17
Intra Squad Game 1:00pm -2:30 pm on Saturday September 18
Intra Squad Game 11:00am-12:30pm on Sunday September 19

Exhibition Game Schedule:

Tuesday September 21 vs Salmon Arm 7pm
Saturday September 25 vs Penticton 6pm
Saturday October 2 vs West Kelowna 6pm
