Driver seriously injured in Highway 4 crash at Cameron Lake

WHISKEY CREEK — An apparent head-on collision resulted in the driver of a car being flown to hospital after hitting a semi truck on Highway 4.

The incident occurred just after 8 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 26 at the mid-span portion of the Cameron Lake stretch, shutting the highway down in both directions for about two hours.

BC Emergency Health Services stated one patient was airlifted to hospital in critical condition.

A Parksville-based air ambulance was forced to make an unconventional landing on the narrow highway next to the lake.

Numerous emergency responders converged on scene following the crash.
