The Regional District of Central Okanagan has rescinded evacuation orders for properties in Fintry, La Casa and Shalal Road.

The change comes as the White Rock Lake fire’s activity reduced on the south end.

The area is now under an Evacuation Alert, which includes 608 properties from 6916 Barcelona Dr E to 7355N Westside Rd between Fintry and Casears Landing.

Other Evacuation Orders and Alerts issued by the RDCO in response to the White Rock Lake wildfire remain unchanged.

Residents returning to their properties are reminded that hazards may be present on properties, such as downed power lines, gas leaks and damaged items or property.

Fire crews continue to actively suppress the fire and the public is advises to stay out of the way of crews and emergency vehicles and to not block access to streets or properties.

Power may be out as a result of the fire, and people are advised to check items in their refrigerators and freezers, as they may no longer be safe to eat.

More information on returning following an evacuation can be found at the B.C. Emergency Preparedness website.

Meantime, the Evacuation order is still in effect, and may be turned back into an Order is the situation worsens. The public is advised to be prepared to leave immediately once again if that Order should be issued once again.
