Evacuation alert issued for Pinaus Lake, South to Bouleau Lake

An Evacuation Alert has been issued by RDNO at the Emergency Operations Centre due to a wildfire at White Rock Lake (#K61884).

The Alert is to prepare residents to evacuate their homes or property should it be found necessary. Residents will be given as much advance notice as possible prior to evacuation; however, they may receive limited notice due to changing conditions.

This applies to the following areas:

North and East of, and including Pinaus Lake – running South to include Bouleau Lake.

East and South of Bouleau Lake – running west to the Thompson Nicolas Regional District Evacuation Alert and Order (South and parallel to Salmon River Fire Service Road)

The White Rock Lake Fire is estimated at 12,500 hectares ans burning out of control.

The BC Wildfire Service said fire behaviour was elevated again Monday due to warm temperatures and increased southwest winds. This aggressive fire behaviour caused growth to the northwest past Jimmy Lake and produced large columns of smoke.

“Increased fire activity is expected to continue in the coming days as hot, dry and windy conditions will persist. No precipitation is anticipated in the near future. These conditions will continue to challenge fire suppression efforts and cause additional growth on this fire. More structural protection units have been requested, which will include a task force of fire engines that will patrol and action hotspots in an effort to protect properties and high value assets,” the BCWS said.

In addition, an Evacuation Alert has been issued by the Columbia Shuswap Regional District in conjunction with the Thompson Nicola Regional District’s Evacuation Order. A wildfire burning in the area of White Rock Lake near the boundary of the Thompson Nicola Regional District and the CSRD’s Electoral Area D is growing and may pose a danger. As a precautionary measure and due to the potential danger to life, health or property, an Evacuation Alert is in effect for the following areas:

The south-west corner of CSRD Electoral Area D, including Will Lake and the west end of Pinaus Lake.
Affected addresses include: 6439, 6445, 6453, 6491, 6493, 6495, 6497, 6567, 6575, and 6633 Pinaus Lake Forest Service Road.
