Organizers of the 2022 BC Winter Games in Greater Vernon will be able to use part of Vernon’s former visitor information centre for next February’s event.

A motion from Coun. Akbal Mund was supported by council for the group to use the southern part of the building on 39th Avenue for office space, free of charge, until the end of March 2022.

City staff said the building is in “pretty rough shape” right now, so discussions will be held with Games officials to make sure it can meet their needs.

Meantime, on a larger level, council has given the go ahead to repurposing the former visitor information centre.
