The Arts Council of the North Okanagan has announced Rodney Goodchild as the new manager of the Vernon Community Arts Centre.

“I am so very excited to be announcing the centre’s appointment of Rodney to the team,” Jeanne Byron, ACNO President, said. “Reporting directly to the board, Rodney will bring many years of valuable management experience to the position, but also a passion and understanding for the arts that is so important to the success of this kind of work. We are delighted to have Rodney on board, and we look forward to exciting times ahead.”

Goodchild started his Vernon career working at Okanagan Spirits where he helped build it to the signature destination that it is today. After ten years at the distillery, he left to start his own business and to work part time as the Executive Director for the Sports & Culture Society of the North Okanagan.

Speaking from his new office, Goodchild called the Arts Centre “a community gem filled with skilled and passionate staff and instructors offering world class programming, workshops and exhibits.”

“I am excited to be appointed to the role and I hope that I can bring as much to the Centre as the Centre will bring to me,” Goodchild commented.

Byron added that Goodchild’s appointment will allow the Arts Council’s Executive Director Gale Woodhouse to focus on the devolvement, marketing, and advocacy of arts and culture in the wider community.

The Vernon Community Arts Centre, located in Polson Park, focuses on arts education and programming for people of all ages and abilities while offering local artists and members of the ACNO the opportunity to showcase their work. The centre is also home to the administrative offices of the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, the non-profit society that administers the centre.
