UPDATE: Vernon R.V. sani-station ready for the long weekend

UPDATE:

City of Vernon crews have put the finishing touches on  the new RV sani-station at the Kin Race Track site on 43rd Avenue in time for the long weekend.

It will be available for use by Saturday morning (May 22).

The station is now located at 3501 43rd Avenue, behind Kal Tire Place, on the former Kin Race Track lands.

The sani-station has a one-way access to maintain the flow of traffic, so motorists are asked to enter at the east entrance and exit on the west end of the site.

Previously, the sani-station was located in the 3700 block of 31st Street. As part of the city’s 2021 Capital Projects plan, 31st Street will be rehabilitated between 35th and 37th Avenues, making access to the sani-dump difficult throughout the summer months.

The RV sani-dump station includes two waste dumping and water filling stations and stacking distance to accommodate approximately eight recreational vehicles at a time.

A $4.00 payment can be made in cash at the deposit box or pay-by-phone using location 4736.

Vernon council had voted not to replace the now closed sani-station at the Civic Centre Park, but councillor Akbal Mund brought the matter back after walking the Kin Race Track property.

That vote came after a plan to put the sani-station on a frontage road in Okanagan Landing was approved, and then pulled off the table by Vernon council.

The relocation will cost $85,000.

City staff have been instructed to try find a local business that may be interested in developing a sani-station.

The Superstore on Anderson Way has a sani-station for customers purchasing fuel.
