A North Okanagan murder suspect has chosen to be tried by a B.C. Supreme Court judge and jury.

Lynda Saundry, who turns 60 this year, is facing a first-degree murder charge in the July 30, 2020 death of Barry Jones, 55, near Round Lake northwest of Vernon.

Police say the accused and victim knew each other, but have provided no other details.

Saundry was arrested a few days later and charged with the homicide.

“The matter has been adjourned to May 17 to fix the date for the preliminary inquiry,” Dan McLaughlin from the B.C. Prosecution Service told Vernon Matters, after Saundry’s provincial court appearance on May 13.
