Improvements being made to Bench Road

The City of Vernon is advising the public that a road closure will be required on Okanagan Landing Bench Road tomorrow (Wednesday May 19) for maintenance and line painting.

Starting at 7:30 a.m. on May 19, Okanagan Landing Bench Road will be closed to through traffic between Bench Row Road and Okanagan Landing Road. The work is expected to be complete by 3:00 p.m. on the same day. Access to Bench Row Road is available from Commonage Road.

The speed signage and what types of vehicles can use the steep winding road were the topic of discussion at a council meeting in February, after a truck and trailer slid off the roadway on February 18, 2021.
