Update:

Coldstream Council has granted Vernon Tourism approval to set-up a pop-up tourist information spot over the summer on Kal Beach. It is expected the weekly mobile visitor centre would be set-up in a high traffic area, perhaps near the concession stand.

Vernon Tourism is seeking a weekly spot on Kal Beach in Coldstream.

The city-run agency will not be reopening its Visitor Information Centre this year, and instead, will hire two summer students to operate a mobile visitor centre starting on the May long weekend and ending on Labour Day.

Vernon Tourism is requesting approval from Coldstream council to set up once per week at Kal Beach over that period.

“The goal is to set up a 10 x 10 pop-up tent at a variety of tourist locations throughout the season and to provide tourists with additional information on the area (ie: maps, accommodation listing, attractions, restaurants etc.),” said a staff report to Coldstream council from chief administrative officer Trevor Seibel.

The tent will include a sandwich board sign with Destination BC’s Visitor Servicing “I” logo [for information] on it.

The students will only be providing visitors with information and will not be selling any goods or services.

There would be a protective barrier on the table due to Covid-19 health protocols.
