Vipers clinch first place in their pod

The Vernon Vipers secured top spot in their three-team pod season with a 3-1 win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks Friday night at Kal Tire Place.

Logan Shaw scored for the Silverbacks in the first period and then the Vipers took control with goals from Tyler Carpendale and Reagan Milburn.

Ryan Shostak sealed the win with an empty-netter with 1:32 left in the third..

James Porter Jr. made 37 saves for the goaltending win and first star honours.

The Vipers are five points up on Salmon Arm with one game remaining for both teams.

The Vipers end their 20 game season Sunday versus the West Kelowna Warriors at 4 p.m., with the pre- game on Beach Radio at 3:45 p.m.
