Downtown Vernon Association budget approved

The Downtown Vernon Association (DVA) will have over $485,000 to promote the city core in 2021.

The total budget is $485,319, with staff and office expenses being the lion’s share at $318,920.

The association gets most of its funding from two business improvement area levies, with an additional $64,000 coming from grants and other sources.

The DVA is hoping to hold some events this year, but has already announced the Sunshine Festival won’t happen in its normal form. Over $74,000 is in the budget for advertising, events and promotions.

There are also improvements planned for the appearance of the downtown, with $88,300 earmarked for street scape upgrades.
