The City of Vernon is going to spend funds left over from last year’s budget to construct office space for additional staff at the 48th Avenue operations centre.
Due to a recent organizational restructuring, infrastructure department staff currently working out of the Community Services building (downtown on 32nd Ave.) will be moving to the yards building. The building will require the construction of new office space to house the incoming staff. Early design and cost estimates indicate that an additional $700,000 will be required to construct this space.
New office space at the operations centre will subsequently create much needed space at the Community Services building.
Vernon had a 2020 unexpended and uncommitted balance of $1,677,453.
