BCHL confirms five pod sites for shortened season

Mar 19, 2021 | 10:25 AM

The Vernon Vipers now know the other teams they will be hosting in a pod at Kal Tire Place when the B.C. Hockey League resumes play in early April.

The league confirmed the five pod locations for the 2020-21 season today, while also saying the full schedule will be released next week.

The Vipers will be paired with the Salmon Arm Silverbacks and West Kelowna Warriors.

Each pod will consist of three to four teams who will play each other in a single location for the five-week season.

Vernon Mayor Victor Cumming said last week the city is excited to be named a host city for BCHL pod game play.

“We have missed having the Vernon Vipers on the ice and are excited to see this first step towards a return to play. We know many fans are anxious to get back in their seats to cheer on the team, but we’ll continue to wait patiently until the time comes that we can gather again safely and be among the hometown crowd,” Cumming stated.

The Vipers games will be broadcast on 107.5 Beach Radio, with the voice of the Vipers, Graham Turnbull.
