City of Vernon Covid costs tallied up

The cost of Covid-19 to City of Vernon operations last year has been put at $317,882 for direct costs and $2,576,265 for net revenue shortfalls for a total of almost $2.9-million.
The shortfalls came in the form of lower provincial gaming grants, parking revenues commercial sewer user fees, park revenues and business licence fees.
Additional costs included labour, disinfection materials and supplies, contracted cleaning, mobile computers and staff health screening app, furniture and fixtures for physical distancing and vehicle rental and fuel.
The funds will come from the $4,997,000 Provincial Safe Restart Grant received by the city.
