A key member of the management team at the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) is moving on.

General manager of Community Services Mike Fox has accepted a position with the City of Lethbridge.

Fox was responsible for a diverse portfolio of services including; emergency management, fire protection services, waste management services, parks, recreation and culture, RCMP victim services, transit services, Greater Vernon regional trails, natural spaces and Greater Vernon regional culture services.

Fox started with RDNO in Sept. 2017 and has been instrumental in the development of the region’s hiking and biking trail network.

“You really took this trail thing under your wing. We saw tremendous progress under your leadership and I just really want to thank you, it’s been significant,” Vernon Mayor Victor Cumming told Fox during the Wednesday (March 3) Greater Vernon Advisory Committee meeting. “When you come back, you can jump on your bike and go for a ride on all these trails you have had your hand in.”

Fox started his career in municipal government in Nova Scotia, working for governments in Bridgewater and Lunenburg, before moving west to become director of operations for the City of Kimberley and then RDNO.

Thursday, March 4 is Fox’s last day with RDNO. No replacement has been announced.
