Zoom may stay after COVID-19

Coldstream council beefs up virtual capabilities

If there is one beneficial impact of the public health restrictions related to COVID-19, a lot more people have learned to use technology to communicate, both personally and professionally.

Zoom and other video conferencing methods have been widely used to hold meetings, conventions and other events, cutting down of travel expenses and carbon emissions.

The ability to join in from home has also opened up new avenues for local government to be accessed by a larger number of people.

There are some indications those opportunities for connection may stay around post pandemic.

Coldstream council has voted to move forward with phase two of an upgrade to its audio/video capabilities at council chambers.

Coldstream will use $34,874 plus applicable taxes, from the COVID-19 Safe Restart grant to fund the upgrades.
